Full disclosure: If you click on a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Meijer, a Midwest superstore chain, is offering teachers year-round discounts of 15% on school supplies, home office equipment and children’s toys purchased. Any teacher showing valid educator ID at a Meijer customer service desk can qualify for this discount; last year teachers spent an average of $750 on classroom supplies alone.

Meijer is making it easier for families to access fresh produce. Their Flashfood program, launched in 2019, now allows Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program customers with EBT cards to shop the store using them for discounted food nearing its expiration date – made available across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Royal Oak police and firefighters joined dozens of children Thursday evening for Meijer’s Shop with a Hero event, held annually at Coolidge Highway Meijer store on Coolidge Highway. Meijer generously provided funding for this annual tradition.

Officers say a West Chester, Ohio Meijer loss prevention employee caught the suspect while they were hiding merchandise under his jacket. According to court documents, he told officers he wore an orange North Face jacket, tan scarf and light blue surgical mask and that police searched both him and his car, suspicion rising on officers due to suspicious clothing in both cases. As per legal documents the individual is charged with misdemeanor theft charges.
