New Agreements with Major Studios

The country’s leading circuit has inked agreements with Warner Bros. Picture Group, The Walt Disney Company, Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment that will enable them to show their films exclusively in theaters for 17 days before selling on premium video-on-demand platforms. This move is part of a wider initiative to tighten the theatrical window for new releases as COVID-19 goes into effect.

Reopening Timeline Revised

Cinemark’s library and first release screenings have been delayed until July 24 instead of the original July 17 date, keeping them on par with rival AMC and Regal which also plan to resume new release screenings during that period.

Health and Safety Are Priorities

A Cinemark spokesperson reports the company has made great strides to improve their facilities, disinfect them and implement what they call “The Cinemark Standard” when they reopen. Each location will have a designated Chief Clean and Safety Monitor on duty as well as employing a team of health and safety professionals for training purposes.
