GNC’s own Discount Programs page offers first responders 10% off in the cart, verified through ID.me, and it’s online only. The page defines first responders as law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, 911 and dispatchers, and it names four brands the discount skips.
GNC sells vitamins, supplements, protein powder and other health products, online and through its stores. Its discount page opens with a note of thanks to nurses, hospital employees, medical providers, first responders, military and veterans, teachers and students, and it gives each group the same in-cart discount. The detail that trips people up is that this one isn’t a code to read out at a register.
How To Get The GNC First Responder Discount
GNC runs the verification inside your GNC.com account, so set it up before you build a cart. The steps on GNC’s page:
- Shop GNC.com and add products to your cart.
- Log in to your GNC.com account, or create one if you don’t have one.
- Click the “Verify with ID.me” button in the Profile section of your account.
- Sign up for an ID.me account or sign in to ID.me. GNC says the verification only takes a few minutes.
- Go back to checkout. GNC says your discount is applied to your order during checkout if it’s eligible to be used.
What The 10% Covers, And What It Doesn’t
GNC says it offers a 10% discount in cart, and ID.me’s GNC listing agrees with “10% off sitewide for First Responders.” The page then lists the limits. The discount can’t be combined with other promotional codes, coupons or sitewide promotions, and ID.me discounts exclude Beyond Raw, Alani Nu, Ghost and Optimum Nutrition products. It can’t be applied to previous purchases, GNC membership purchases or renewals, gift cards, shipping or sales tax, and international orders aren’t eligible. GNC also says it can change or remove a product from the ID.me promotion at any time without prior notice, so the discount on a given product isn’t guaranteed.
Online Only
The footnote on GNC’s page is plain: not applicable in stores. If you were hoping to show a badge at the register, this isn’t that program, and GNC doesn’t describe any in-store verification. The discount is for personal use and only for eligible members, so a verified account can’t be shared with someone who isn’t eligible.
Who Counts, As GNC Words It
Under first responders, GNC’s page lists law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, 911 and dispatchers. Those are the groups it names, and the verification happens at ID.me, which decides whether you qualify. If you have trouble with eligibility or can’t get into your ID.me account, GNC points you to ID.me’s support team, and for a discount that doesn’t work at checkout it points you to its customer service line.
Shipping, Pickup And Returns
GNC’s shipping page lists Standard Shipping at $12.99 with delivery in 2 to 5 business days, and says orders typically ship within 2 business days. It also offers free in-store pickup: place your order by 3pm local time and pick it up in the store the same day. Since the discount is applied in the cart, check that it shows before you pick pickup or shipping.
For returns, GNC’s 30-day satisfaction guarantee says you can return an item within 30 days from the order date for a full refund of the purchase price, minus shipping or other charges, and that shipping isn’t refundable on orders shipped to you.
