The Land Rover Defender is one of the most capable off-road and overland vehicles on the market, boasting abundant storage, an assured driving position and technical capabilities that make it the ideal solution for tackling unpaved roads. So it was with great delight that we learned of Montgomery EMS (MEMS) of New Jersey receiving a fully equipped Defender 110 through our Defender Above and Beyond Service Awards contest. This contest invited non-profit organizations to submit videos demonstrating their vital work and how adding a Defender would benefit their fleet. Winners were determined through public voting; winners fell into categories for coastal and marine conservation, search and rescue, first responders, animal welfare.
MEMS team joined other top winners at a handover ceremony hosted by Land Rover Princeton dealership in Montgomery, NJ (just across from Princeton). Members from MEMS filled up the showroom on an sunny spring morning to inspect their new toy – sirens and lightbars quickly installed – before President Carol Raymond drove it back a few miles to their squad house ready to be put into community service service for years ahead.
