The Google Store takes 10% off for verified first responders, through a one-time-use code you get after checking your status with ID.me. The code works at store.google.com and at a physical Google Store, and it follows a few store-wide rules that are easier to learn before you check out than after.
The Google Store is Google’s own shop. Its home page is titled “Google Store for Google Made Devices & Accessories,” and the store also sells Pixel Care+, which it describes as a device protection program that allows you to get repairs and replacements on your device. If you’re pricing out a Pixel, a watch or a smart home device, the 10% is worth sorting out first. How To Get The Google Store First Responder Discount
Google’s help page says certain professionals qualify for an exclusive, one-time use 10% discount code, and its list names military personnel, first responders, teachers, doctors, nurses, government employees and students within the US. It doesn’t define “first responders” any further, so ID.me’s verification step is where your status gets decided.

- Verify as a first responder through ID.me and get your code.
- Sign in to your Google Account. ID.me’s restrictions say you complete checkout with a valid Google Pay profile registered in the United States.

What The Code Doesn’t Cover
Google’s page says the code can be used for any product except Nest Mini, Chromecast with Google TV (HD), Chromecast with Google TV (4K), Google Home Premium, Professional Installation, Preferred Care, Pixel Care+, Financing and Google Health Premium, plus any other subscriptions. ID.me’s listing carries a different version of that list, one that names Nest Aware and Fitbit Premium, so go by Google’s own page.
The Store-Wide Rules That Catch People
These come from Google’s promotional code help page, and they apply to every order, not just this discount:
- Only one promotional code can be applied per order on the Google Store.
- You can’t use codes with other discounts or a combination of codes.
- Items can only ship to the same country or region you purchased them in.
- Promotional codes issued from Google Store are exclusive to purchases made on Google Store and can’t be applied on the Google Fi website.
If You Already Placed The Order
Google’s help page answers this directly. If your order hasn’t shipped yet, you can cancel it and place a new one with the discount code applied, and it may take up to an hour for the code to be reinstated and available for reuse. If the order has already shipped, Google says to contact Google Store support for help applying the coupon code to your existing order. In other words, verify before you check out, but a missed code isn’t always lost.
Limits From ID.me’s Listing
ID.me’s restrictions add that each code is valid for one-time use only, has no residual balance and isn’t transferable, with a limit of three discount codes redeemed per customer per year. They also say the offer is available only to U.S. residents aged 18 or older with U.S. shipping addresses, and that the code may not be combined with other discount codes or promotional offers unless expressly permitted. If you’re buying a phone, a watch and a smart home device over a few months, plan which purchase gets each code.
