Speedway is offering a special first responder discount this weekend as a gesture of gratitude for the work that first responders do in protecting and serving us all. They will be honored at all of their convenience stores. At their convenience stores, police, firefighters and EMTs with valid professional ID can get a first responder card that features a distinctive design, provides five cents off per gallon of fuel purchased and 10 free beverages. These cards can also be found for police dogs, firefighters and EMTs as gifts! Charlotte Motor Speedway will also host a memorial to remember those lost on 9/11 with 20 veterans and first responders climbing 110 flights of stairs as a tribute. These stairs represent how far responders traveled in their efforts to save people in the Twin Towers. Climbers represent law enforcement from North Carolina State Highway Patrol and firefighters from Albemarle Fire Department, Griffith Road Volunteer Fire Department and Kannapolis Fire Department – as well as officers from Mecklenburg EMS and Cabarrus EMS respectively.
