Extra Space Storage

How To Get The Extra Space Storage First Responder Discount

Extra Space Storage doesn’t have a first responder discount. What it offers is a 5 percent military discount for active-duty service members, at select facilities near military bases, and it’s tied to a valid military ID.

If you’re boxing up a house before a transfer or a bigger place, storage is a bill you can shop around. Extra Space sends discount questions to the local facility, so the useful move is a phone call and not a code.

How To Get The Extra Space Storage First Responder Discount

There’s no program to verify online, so this is what we’d do, in order:

  1. Call or visit the facility you’d rent from and ask whether it has any rate for police, fire or EMS. Extra Space tells customers to contact their local facility about discounts, so that’s where an answer would come from.
  2. Ask what’s running for a new rental where you are. Extra Space has FAQ topics on first month free storage, sales, holiday sales and student discounts, so ask which of those your location offers.
  3. Get the monthly rent, any fees and the insurance cost in writing before you sign, so you can compare facilities on the same terms.

If you pay full price and want something back, the one route to money back is a Fluz virtual card, a general-purpose card that earns cash back on whatever you pay with it. That’s a general card and not an Extra Space offer, and its rate moves, so check it before you rely on it.

Who Gets The Military Discount

Active-duty service members with a valid military ID qualify. The account has to be in the active-duty member’s name, and Extra Space’s FAQ says the discount doesn’t extend to spouses or other family members. A separate storage tips page says certain locations offer military discounts to active service members and their families, so if you’re asking as a military family, ask the facility which rule it follows. Police, fire and EMS aren’t mentioned anywhere.

What The 5 Percent Covers

It comes off monthly rent only, before taxes, fees, insurance and other charges, and it can’t be combined with other Extra Space discount offers. Because only select facilities near military bases offer it, even a qualifying service member should confirm with the local facility before counting on it.

Cash Back On Extra Space

There’s no cash back route for Extra Space. Fluz has only its general virtual card, and none of the other cash back sites we work with carries Extra Space.

Sales And Promotions

Extra Space doesn’t say whether the military discount works alongside a sale price or a holiday promotion. Ask the facility whether a current promotion can sit next to whatever rate you’re quoted, and get the final number in writing.
