As per a press release from World Choice Entertainment Group, Dixie Stampede will now be known simply as Dolly Parton’s Stampede. “We believe it’s essential that our shows have clear titles when expanding into new markets,” stated Pete Owens of World Choice Entertainment Group in the release.
While some have criticized this move, others support it. Aisha Harris for Slate writes, “Historically speaking, the South has had ample opportunity to rewrite its own history with little external scrutiny or concern from other parts of the nation – so why not use that power for good??”
