Who Qualifies
The page lists police, firefighters, EMTs and search and rescue members. That means a patrol officer, a firefighter and an EMT all qualify, but a paramedic should read the page’s EMT wording and see whether SheerID accepts the credential. Dispatchers, corrections officers and spouses aren’t named, so the page doesn’t promise them anything.
At least one person on your booking has to be a United States or Canada police officer, firefighter, EMT or search and rescue member. Retired police and firefighters are eligible and should only have to verify their account once. EMTs and search and rescue members have to re-verify every year, so if you verified last season, expect to do it again before you book.
What The Discount Leaves Out
The offer applies to one room per first responder, so two responders traveling together each need their own room to use their own discount. It can’t be applied to reservations made within 60 days of travel, which rules out a last-minute getaway, and it isn’t combinable with other promotions such as the Free Anniversary Night or Last-Minute Travel Deals.
It also can’t be applied to paid in full reservations, including reservations paid in full through Uplift or a Bank of America credit card. That’s why the steps say to choose the minimum deposit and apply the discount first: once the stay is paid in full, the discount is off the table.
