Rochester Police are responding to an incident at Hoyt Place Wednesday afternoon and report there is a large crowd outside. Armed officers are present and the street has been closed off as a result.
Hoyt was an integral member of the Long Hill Fire Department for more than three decades, beginning as a volunteer when he was 16 and becoming full time six years later. Barbara Reddington said Hoyt and his wife were extremely dedicated to their jobs and praised their strong family ties.
Team Hoyt was also known to engage in numerous community and professional activities, such as running multiple Boston Marathons together and speaking to school and business groups about building self-confidence for disabled children. Reddington spoke highly of them both. “They did so much for this community,” Reddington remarked, “they will truly be missed.”
