Sierra-at-Tahoe

How To Get The Sierra-at-Tahoe First Responder Discount

Sierra-at-Tahoe takes up to 20% off its season passes for first responders. The same page covers military and veterans, and it says immediate family can be included, with a limit of 4. What it doesn’t say is how Sierra checks you: the page asks for valid documentation and stops there.

Sierra’s page lists three first responder passes. The Unlimited Pass is good any day with no restrictions, the Play Pass is valid seven days a week with blackouts, and the Weekday Pass covers Monday through Friday, also with blackouts. If your shifts rotate and you can’t promise a Saturday on the hill, the Weekday and Play passes are the ones to price against your real schedule.

How To Get The Sierra-at-Tahoe First Responder Discount

  1. Open Sierra’s First Responder + Military Season Pass page, the one the button below goes to.
  2. Choose your pass: Unlimited, Play or Weekday. Each one lists adult, young adult, child and senior prices.
  3. Have your documentation ready. The page says valid documentation is required, but it doesn’t name a verification service or list which documents or occupations count, so ask Sierra before you buy if your role is unusual.
  4. Click Buy Now on the pass you want. If you’d rather spread out the cost, the page offers FlexPay installment plans.

First-time pass buyers take or upload a photo of themselves for the pass, and the page says a one-time ticketing fee is added to first time pass purchases.

What The Passes Include

Under the Unlimited Pass, the page lists zero blackout dates, unlimited buddy lift tickets, free parking reservations and 20% off on-mountain purchases. The Unlimited and Play passes both list a friend free on select Fridays. The Play Pass lists 12 buddy lift tickets and the Weekday Pass lists 10, and both carry the 20% off on-mountain purchases too.

The Weekday Pass blocks out every Saturday and Sunday on top of the holiday blackouts, so it’s the cheapest way in only if you really do ski midweek. The blackout dates are printed on the page itself, which is the place to check them against your days off.

Prices And The Fine Print

Sierra prints each price on the page, and a banner at the top says prices rise after a date. That date will pass, so read the number on the page the day you buy instead of trusting any figure written down elsewhere. The page also says “up to” 20%, which means the saving can vary by pass, so compare the first responder price with the regular price for the same pass before you commit.

The passes are valid at Sierra-at-Tahoe only. That’s worth saying out loud if you’ve been eyeing a pass that covers several resorts, because this one stays at Sierra.
