How To Get The Magic Mountain First Responder Discount

Magic Mountain has a Service category for passes and lift tickets, and it includes employed police, fire and paramedics. Magic’s season pass page says Service passes are at a discount and asks for proof of employment. Police, firefighters and EMS have to be active on the job, so retired responders shouldn’t count on it.

Magic Mountain Ski Area is in Vermont, and its own pass page says this season’s passes are on sale. The Service category is one row in the pass table and one column in the lift ticket table, which makes it easy to miss, and that’s the reason this page exists.

How To Get The Magic Mountain First Responder Discount

  1. Open Magic’s season pass page and find the Service row. The page lists a Service pass next to the adult, youth and senior passes.
  2. Check that you fit. The page says the Service pass includes employed police, fire and paramedics, and that police, firefighters and EMS must be active on the job.
  3. Bring proof. The page says all Service category passes require proof of membership or employment. For the Vermont resident Service pass, it adds proof of Vermont full-time residency at pass pick-up as well as a service record.
  4. Buy the pass, or buy a Service lift ticket if you only want a day. The lift ticket page has a Service ticket category with the same qualifications.

What Comes With A Service Pass

The page says Service pass holders get 10% off tuning and rentals at Red Line Rentals and 10% off merchandise at the Magic Merchants store at the mountain. A $5 RFID card is included with the pass cost. Unlimited passes at Magic also allow you to buy an Indy Pass add-on, which matters if you like to ski at other independent mountains.

Magic says it is a proud original partner of the Indy Pass, and the lift ticket page explains how Indy Pass reservations work. That’s separate from the first responder offer, but it’s good to know if you ski with someone who holds one.

What To Check Before You Pay

The pass page prints prices for each category, and Magic changes its price tier as the season approaches, so read the number on the page the day you buy and compare the Service row with the adult row. The lift ticket page says no discount pricing may be combined with other promotional offers, so a Service ticket and a special day don’t stack.

The page names other groups in the same Service category, and the rules differ slightly by group. For first responders, the one that matters is being active on the job, and the proof is employment, so bring something that shows your department and current status.
