Q&A
Q: Which of these name EMTs and paramedics?
A: The first 25 brands name EMTs, paramedics or EMS. Lululemon lists EMTs, Dell lists emergency medical personnel, Verizon names EMS workers and Ford lists EMT and paramedic. The last six offer a first responder discount without listing jobs, so you’ll see whether your role fits when you verify.
Q: Do volunteer EMTs qualify?
A: At Verizon and T-Mobile, yes: both name volunteers. Glock, Jeep, Ram and Dell name volunteer firefighters, not volunteer EMTs, so ask before you count on it.
Q: Do retired EMTs qualify?
A: Verizon and T-Mobile both name retirees, and adidas lists first responders as active or retired. Sandals names retired police and firefighters but asks EMTs to be active and re-verify every year.
Q: Who verifies me?
A: It depends on the brand. ID.me handles adidas, Under Armour, YETI, Verizon, Samsung and Ford. GovX handles Dark Angel Medical, Thorogood and Spartan Race. SheerID handles Lululemon, Dell and Sandals. VerifyPass handles SimpliSafe, Leatherman and Sig Sauer. Jeep and Ram use a third-party service that gives you a code for the dealer.
Q: Why do some entries say “up to”?
A: The brand’s wording is “up to” because the amount differs by product or purchase. Samsung’s savings differ by product line, Dell says up to 10% extra, Thorogood says up to 15% and Spartan Race says up to 25%.
Q: Which of these work in a store?
A: Lululemon applies the 15% in store if you ask an educator and bring ID. Dave & Buster’s takes the discount at the table when you show your ID to your server. Sugar Bowl asks for valid ID at ticket pickup. The rest have you verify online, send an application or take a code or certificate to a dealer.
Q: Can I stack these with sales or other codes?
A: Usually not. SimpliSafe, Leatherman, Under Armour and Bushnell all say it can’t be combined with other offers or codes. Nike works only with free shipping codes, Samsung’s pages disagree, and Verizon combines with other offers except teacher, nurse, student and military discounts.
